Water break floods Liberty Street, reduces pressure

Published: Sat, November 7, 2009 @ 8:58 p.m.

GIRARD — A water main break along Liberty Street just west of Motor Inn Drive in Liberty Township at about 7:30 p.m. Saturday flooded part of the road with two to three inches of water and left area residents with low water pressure or no water, the fire department said.

Girard city water crews, who are responsible for repairing the break, were to begin repairs Sunday morning, a city police dispatcher said.

City officials decided to postpone repairs because they did not want to shut the road down this evening due to heavy traffic from the Girard vs. Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy first round football playoff game at Arrowhead Stadium, the police dispatcher said.

A Liberty police dispatcher said that, as far as she knew, the area of ponded water was passable for traffic.
