The idea might be well-intentioned, but here we go again with a bunch of little communities all across the state creating a patchwork of different rules and laws that will change literally from one block to the next - and in some Niles areas, literally from one driveway cut to the next. The BETTER solution to this problem would be in a county-wide or state-wide plan of some kind... besides, it is hard to legislate "common sense" - people either have it or they don't.
Wow, sounds like the cancer that has been eating away at Youngstown for decades has finally spread into Boardman now too... ??? Pity the Mahoning Valley ... pity more the fools who think the solution is to sweep all the dung under one umbrella - all you will end up with then is a bigger dung heap.
Wow! You won't catch me saying this a lot I think - but "Strickland did something right!" ... gotta give credit where credit is due.
The CF bulbs are a good idea. What is a BAD idea is making me pay quadruple for them when I already use them to begin with and not giving me any say-so in how you are not only spending, but wasting, my money. I don't know if they make these bulbs in the US or not - if not, they should - you can't cry about the competition if there is no alternative offered - but definitely make sure.
Mayor Melfi needs to stand his ground for what is right. The fact of the matter is, where the line on the map is drawn has no bearing other than someone's desire to have what someone eles has. The land, regardless of how worthless or valuable it is, sits in Girard - it has for years. Youngstown is once again the aggressor in this situation, this time going after Girard. Mayor Melfi is completely right in standing for what is right for the people of his city who elected him to represent them - to do anything less would be a deriliction of his duty. It is not Melfi's fault that Jay Williams covets his neighbors posessions. Jay is only concerned about two things: taking the land from another community and taxes. If this deal ever even proves to be legit, it will take plenty of time and patience and effort to do it right. At this point, Jay is kind of like the democrats in Washington: hurry up and do what I say before anyone notices what I'm really doing because if people get to read the fine print, they may object to the actions...
These polls are more meaningless every day. The polls are going to be, in general, reflective of the group of sample - so when you sample 2/3 democrats and 1/3 republicans, would you be surprised that the results are somewhat 2/3 approve and 1/3 disapprove (I don't pretend to know what the sample was in THIS poll - but in general, I am understanding that many polls are not sampling true random samples or evenly split samples) So the polls mean very little. Another thing is that true leadership does not lead by polls, they lead by what is right. So who cares if a certain percentage of a democrat tilted survey are all warm and fuzzy about Obama? It doesn't change the fact that he, and more so his cronies around him, is destroying this country one day at a time - day by day.
Jay just continues to demonstrate his ignorance. So let's get this straight - since he lost his pointless battle to dictate people to living within Y'town city limits, he will now pretend that someone in Mahoning County, or let's say, Portage, Trumbull, Columbiana, or Stark - they are presumed well-qualified for city jobs, but by definition, the poor sap who lives 8 miles east on 224 (just over the PA line) is somehow less capable than his next door neighbor who lives 7.75 miles out from the city...
You see how POINTLESS all of this is Jaybird? When is someone going to focus on something that MATTERS for Y'town?
As has been said numerous times in the past, IT IS TIME TO REMOVE NORTHSIDE from the mix so that the rest of the system can move forward. Fail to do this, and you kill the entire system. Northside is the cancer that ails the system, has been, and while some improvements may have been made, there is not enough that can be done to "save the patient".
Maybe this could be the spark that ignites the FUSE instead. Youngstown has been imploding for years - this event is just another last gasp of heavy handed political games played by Jay and Youngstown (and Warren, Columbus, Toledo, Akron, etc.) over the last several decades.
Take a look at the school report cards - how PROUD Youngstown must be to be the WORST IN THE STATE! Warren City ... right there behind them - carrying on that long-standing "proud" tradition.
Obviously the schools and the cities are not one in the same, but they are, for all intents and purposes, reflections of each other and a true picture of the failures of the communities. People like Jay need to learn how to lead rather than covet what their neighbors have.
What happens in the end when the jobs never come? Go look at that commuter aircraft factory out there in Vienna and tell me that never happens...

Nice job Gov. ... for a change.

Maybe this explains why there are so many more idiots walking around Ohio the past few election cycles. HA!
