Actually, hate to say it but I too have called and been told not to expect a speedy response--the call was about a strange man literally stumbling around the neighborhood late at night peeking in windows, likely looking for a robbery target. When they did come they drove by the corner, without actually turning on to my street put a floodlight on it for about three seconds and drove off--never even turned the corner or got out of the car. Honestly, how do you expect people to feel even remotely good about a city when you are told not to expect a quick response. Two days later, guess what? Two homes on my street were robbed.
Ochi: I like Kool-Ade it's good. And for the record, it is totally appropriate for Tyler to comment--its called a blog and that's how it works--its supposed to foster dialogue between readers and between the blogger and readers.
Tug, I read the posts and they were interesting, but what's the point? Even of he was right on all of the issues, (although it's pretty easy to be right when all you do is state the problem but offer no solution as those quotes suggest) he still broke the law repeatedly and while he has done his time and I wish him well, the fact that Democratic leaders welcome him back with "open arms" is pathetic.
"And, given that most of the retirement benefits paid to public retirees are unjustified considering the service they have rendered while on the job, these folks have been living high off the hog for too long."
Wow, generalize much Bert? Were you denied a public service job somewhere along the line?
Tyler is right--the excuse that he did what everyone else does only he got caught is just sad and a real comment on our valley. Its disgusting to me that Democratic leaders are welcoming the man back-he did his time and he doesn't deserve to be persecuted but he doesn't deserve folk hero status either--in fact if he truly loves this area he should stay away.
Yeah, but if you read the entire story, it says that the money was approved specifically for this purpose--they made a separate request for hybrid buses and that was turned down apparently.
Actually it looks as though this project specifically met with government approval, so the fault lies with the feds not with the agency--kind of ironic given the president's constant emphasis on going green.
Wait a minute--didn't I read that they were asking for a couple of million from the stimulus to purchase hybrid buses? I'm pretty sure I did--so then why not use this money for that? Or are they expecting to receive more? I don't like this--we approve a levy for renewed service and they are spending this money for nicer offices?

Actually, I didn't vote for nor support him valleyred--it was before my time, but I've read the accounts.

The scary part is that these sentiments are coming from party leaders! Talk about clueless...
