Would love to hear Dr. Ted's opinion of the H1N1 vaccination and receive tips on how to avoid the flu (both types) this year. All the H1N1 media hype, makes you think the black plague is here, is completely out of control.
We all need to show Columbus that we use the library system to prove its value in our area. There is a great website that can be utilized to reserve books which also notifies you when they are ready for pickup or need to be returned. http://catalog.libraryvisit.org/ This is a great way for your local branch to show quantitative #'s of usage & proof that hours need to be extended. In this economy, save money by using the library for DVDs & books. Take your children there instead of Barnes & Noble to begin their love affair with reading.
Oh brother, when Obama (or any president for that matter) doesn't visit - we here crying here "Why is he avoiding Youngstown?". When he does visit, it still isn't good enough. Has Tugboat ever met a sitting President? Regardless of the party, it is an amazing experience and the office deserves respect. If someone is gushing with excitement, good for them. I had a cousin in the Air Force that worked on AF 1 & 2. All the crew gushed over such an important job regardless of the President they served. I say take in the experience and enjoy it for all it is worth.
I think it is great that we are on the radar with Washington & Obama regardless of the fact that a legislative assistant or staffer is feeding him this information. Our city/area has been mentioned in other comments he has made to the public & the press. When will this area realize that buzz about us needs to be positive & does matter? Seriously, are people that naive to think that we don't need good/positive PR to help us get the attention of businesses to consider us as a location. Let's stop living in the past with names like Bush & Traficant, unify, stop the stupid infighting & get something done. The roads are getting fixed, the President is visiting, a new business is coming to downtown - these things are a start in the right direction.
LOL! Tugboat. "Reliving a better past." When was that? Maybe because the party participants were 10-20 years younger back then but this area was still bleeding jobs & kids were still fleeing the area for jobs or universities & not returning. Granted, there are die-hard Jimbo supporters. But, even he acknowledged the different demographics of this district. If he ran for office, I think the emperor's new clothes would be revealed when pressed for real details & plans on how to truly help this area rather than generic, grand platitudes that rail against the government & harken to days gone by. This isn't the era of "We love u no matter what u do!" anymore. We need & want results.
As a south sider, I would love to have a drop off area for the Grow Youngstown http://www.growyoungstown.org/ organic share to take place. Wish more south siders would sign up for this great opportunity for a ton of fresh, local, organic food. They will be at this festival & I hope more people sign up for next year. All in all, can't wait to stop by, bang on some drums, get a tie-dye shirt & mingle without artery clogging fried foods in the air. ;)
As a fellow Mooney alumnus, please do not hold Traficant against a school that has graduated many students to become officers in the US military, doctors, lawyers, teachers & a plethora of upstanding, law abiding contributors to this country & its citizens. It is mortifying that he will be on Fox News this week & begin a downward spiral in PR for our Valley that has been striving so hard to promote a progressive & positive image. It is downright sad & discouraging that his voice might prevail above all others who actually have ideas that would lead to real plans to promote this Valley. Let's get out of the past ridden with crime & embarrassment & work toward real solutions for unemployment & the betterment of Ytown schools. FYI: His photos have already made us a laughingstock on HuffingtonPost.com making the nation think all Ytown citizens look like we sport squirrels on our heads.
Hope - I remember this law in my driver's education class as well back in the 80's. I'm glad it is being enforced because bad rain storms can completely inhibit visibility (sometimes worse than snow storms). This year's sheet-like rain storms are perfect examples of the importance of headlights. A law, on the books, to protect our safety shouldn't be ridiculed.

YtownLady-You go gurl. I would love to see a poll of how many people have Traficant-fatigue in this area. Turn the page, move on . . .

Does Huffman's have a website or can you share where this local market/farm is located? Great ideas!
