Duddy, Cotto win

Posted on: February 21, 2009

Miguel Cotto knocked Michael Jennings down twice in the fourth round, then the referee stopped it in the fifth. The fight is being shown live at the Chevy Centre. This early stop is good news for Cotto fans and better news for Pavlik reporters like me, who have to write on very tight deadlines because of boxing's ridiculous start times.

Irish middleweight John Duddy (26-0, 17 KOs) won his bout against Matt Vanda (39-9) by unanimous decision on the undercard of the Cotto bout. This is good news for Pavlik, who needs legitimate contenders in his weight division.

Browns QB Brady Quinn made a late entrance to his seat and he caused quite a stir. People love the guy. He's seated between his sister (who is married to A.J. Hawk) and Troy Smith.

We're just minutes away. My prediction for the Pavlik bout is a fifth-round KO. Rubio is no match for Pavlik.
