YSU Theatre is ‘On the Verge’ of new season
Youngstown State University Theatre’s 2024-25 season opens Friday with Eric Overmyer’s “On the Verge.”
The time-traveling adventure comedy follows the journey of three Victorian explorers as they traverse uncharted lands and dimensions, encountering eccentric characters and grappling with the mysteries of time and progress. The play offers a delightful blend of humor, history and speculative fiction, inviting audiences to reflect on human curiosity and the ever-changing world.
In addition to writing several plays, Overmyer worked on such television series as “Homicide: Life on the Streets,” “The Wire” and “Law & Order” and was a co-creator of the HBO series “Treme.”
Todd Dicken directs a cast that features Emalee Chappa, Hawkins, Texas; Chloe Downey, New Waterford; Mallory Ehrhart, Antwerp; and Sam Law, Hudson.
“On the Verge” will be staged 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday through Oct. 13 at Bliss Hall’s Ford Theater. Tickets are $16 for adults, $12 for senior citizens, YSU alumni, faculty and staff and non-YSU students and free for YSU students.
