New Music Guild opens 2024-25 season
Violinist Brendan Considine and pianist Karen Considine will be the guest artists for the New Music Guild’s fall concert.
Brendan Considine plays with the Greenville and Youngstown symphony orchestras, the Warren Philharmonic Orchestra and Opera Western Reserve. He is executive director of the Mahoning Valley Montessori School and previously taught in Youngtown an Alliance and served as administrator and classroom supervisor with the Rich Autism Center. He also has taught at Youngstown State University and Thiel and Westminster colleges.
His wife, Karen Considine, is active as a violinist and pianist and performs with the Youngstown and Greenville symphony orchestras, the Warren Philharmonic Orchestra and Stellare Strings. She is choir accompanist at First Presbyterian Church of Hubbard. The Considines have three children.
The concert will open with performances by New Music Guild coordinators Gwyneth Rollin, violin and Robert Rollin, piano. They will play several of Robert Rollin’s works, and he will premiere “Memories of William,” a tribute to his close friend and longtime NMG board member William Gorman. The Considines will play several Rollin works as well as pieces by Mozart, Bach, Guaraldi and others. The concert starts at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the Basilica of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, 343 Via Mount Carmel, Youngstown. Admission is free, and the concert will be followed by an after party with refreshments in the social hall.
