TAG displays student art

Students from 15 school districts will be represented in the Area Schools Student Exhibit, which opens Saturday at Trumbull Art Gallery, 158 N. Park Ave., Warren.

Work by students in grades K to 8 from Warren, Bloomfield, LaBrae, Lordstown, Girard, Niles, Hubbard, Newton Falls, Howland, Champion, Maplewood, Brookfield, McDonald, Boardman and Pymatuning Valley school districts will be included.

An opening reception is planned from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday, and the work will be on display through Feb. 21. For more information, go to www.trumbullartgallery.com or call 330-395-4876.

Program looks at radio’s beginnings

A program on “A Beginner’s Guide to the Golden Age of Radio” is scheduled at 6 p.m. Jan. 23 at the Warren-Trumbull County Public Library, 444 Mahoning Ave. NW, Warren.

Steve Darnall, host of the radio show “Those Were the Days” and publisher of Nostalgia Digest, will talk about some of the biggest shows and stars to emerge from the early days of radio, including “Amos & Andy” and “The Shadow,” with sound clips and stories about how radio became America’s first mass medium.

Sweet Memories pops in to help

Sweet Memories Vintage Tees & Candy will release three new T-shirts to benefit charity on Saturday in conjunction with National Popcorn Day.

New shirts will feature the brands Crunch ‘N Munch, Fiddle Faddle and Orville Redenbacher’s, and customers will get a free box of Crunch ‘N Munch or Fiddle Faddle with the purchase of a popcorn tee.

A portion of the proceeds from every sale will benefit Meals on Wheels of Mahoning County and Trumbull County Mobile Meals.
