Stage Left opens ‘Pump Boys and Dinettes’
Stage Left Community Arts Center presents the musical comedy “Pump Boys and Dinettes” for a two-weekend run starting Friday.
The music ran for 573 performances on Broadway in 1982-83 and was nominated for a Tony Award for best new musical.
The show takes place at the Double Cupp Diner, run by sisters Prudie and Rhetta Cupp and focuses on their lives and the lives of the “Pump Boys” who work at the neighboring gas station.
The cast features Christine Martin, Savannah DePanicis, Jacob Ward, Tyler Stoffer, D.J. DePanicis and Jodine Pilmer, who also is music director.
According to Stage Left Executive Director Kandace Cleland, “The production is a toe-tapping, feel good musical comedy filled with country-western charm, humor and heart. … Armed with guitars, piano, bass, drums and even kitchen utensils, this lively crew sings and dances their way through 20 musical numbers. They will have the audience singing along and smiling ear-to-ear as they navigate life, love, and friendship in this fast-paced musical comedy.”
“Pump Boys and Dinettes” will be staged at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday through March 2 at Trinity Playhouse, 234 E. Lincoln Way, Lisbon.
Tickets are $17 for adults and $15 for students and senior citizens and are available online at stageleftplayers.org
