Port authority plans to acquire former call center

VIENNA — The Western Reserve Port Authority plans to acquire the former InfoCision call center in Austintown, and staff is working to finalize agreements with prospective end users for the nearly 55,000-square-foot office building.

On Wednesday, the port’s board of directors gave permission to Executive Director Anthony Trevena to negotiate a deal to purchase the building, 5740 Patriot Blvd., for no more than $2.5 million.

“The board’s authorization gives us the ability to finalize the agreement, however, we are awaiting the completion of additional agreements before moving forward,” Trevena said. “While we have identified a strong partner for the space, we will respect the process and share specific details once all agreements are formally approved.”

“As always, our goal is to work closely with local leaders and stakeholders to ensure that this project aligns with the future vision for Austintown Township,” Trevena said.

According to LoopNet, an online commercial real estate marketplace, the single-story building is on nearly 10 acres of land and has 570 parking spaces.

It was built in 1997 and remodeled in 2008, the same year InfoCision acquired the building for $2.9 million, according to the Mahoning County Auditor’s Office.

In September, the board approved the acquisition of two prominent downtown Youngstown office buildings, City Centre One and the Commerce Building, for a combined $6 million from the Ohio One Corporation.

Under the terms of the sales agreement, the port authority will acquire City Centre One, a 10-story building at 100 E. Federal St. for $3.5 million and will buy the Commerce Building, a five-story building at 201 E. Commerce St., for $2.5 million.

The transaction is expected to close by Dec. 1.

In other action, the board:

• Approved increasing the amount to acquire two flight simulators for a new flight school and aviation center at the Youngstown-Warren Regional Airport in Vienna, which the port authority operates, from $305,621 to $315,001. One of the simulators is full-motion and the other is for a tabletop.

• Approved a $67,194 change order with Parella-Pannunzio Inc. for additional sidewalk replacement at the Mahoning Valley Campus of Care, a multi-use residential and workforce training initiative at the former Youngstown Developmental Center. The facility on East County Line Road in Austintown is a campus of 10 buildings that sit on 35 acres and offer mental health treatment, developmental services, education, youth services and job training.

Starting at $2.99/week.
