Fewer state unemployment claims filed last week

Ohioans filed 5,875 initial unemployment claims last week, the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services reported.
The number represents 662 fewer than the previous week. Ohioans filed 66,525 continued unemployment claims last week, which was 1,863 fewer than the previous week.
The total number of claims filed from March 2-8 was 72,400.
Ohio’s unemployment rate in January was 4.6%, the agency said. The national unemployment rate in January was 4%. Ohio’s labor force participation rate in January was 62.4%, while the national labor force participation rate for the same period was 62.6%.
