Community news: Red Cross blood drive in Poland this week
RED CROSS BLOOD DRIVES: The American Red Cross is asking people to give blood or blood platelets. Those who sign up and give from now until Friday will receive a Red Cross long sleeved T-shirt. Those who donate between Jan. 1 and 26 during National Blood Donor Month will be entered to win a trip for two to the Super Bowl in New Orleans on Feb. 9. Details are available at RedCrossblood.org/Superbowl
This is a challenging time of the year to get blood donations, with seasonal illness and the threat of winter weather making it difficult to get to a blood donation site.
There will be a blood drive noon to 5 p.m. Friday at Holy Family Parish Hall, 2729 Center Road, Poland. The blood drive is sponsored by the Holy Family Knights of Columbus Council 15573. For appointments visit redcrossblood.org or call 1-800-733-2767.
BOAR’S HEAD: St. John’s Episcopal Church, 323 Wick Ave. in Youngstown, will host the 62nd annual Boar’s Head and Yule Log Festival at 1:30 and 4 p.m. Sunday. Doors open to the public 30 minutes before the performance. There are two performances but no dinner. For information and tickets, call 330-743-3175.
