MLK Day events
The following events have been scheduled locally to mark Martin Luther King Jr. Day, which is Jan. 20:
SATURDAY
YOUNGSTOWN: “Help Over Hate: MLK Weekend of Service,” 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Unitarian Universalist Church of Youngstown, 1105 Elm St. Indivisible Youngstown will gather members from the Mahoning Valley to learn about issues affecting vulnerable groups.
JAN. 20
WARREN: Second Baptist Church, “A House of Hope” and the Central YMCA of Youngstown, are collaborating to host the 2025 MLK Day Youth Workshop and Fun Day from noon to 3 p.m. Jan. 20 at the Triyounity Building, 239 Main St., Warren. The free event is designed to honor the legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. by engaging local youth in a day of empowerment, education and fun. Open to students in grades 3-8, the workshop will include interactive discussions, games, activities, food and prizes. Registration can be made at

YOUNGSTOWN: Martin Luther King Jr. workshop 8:30 a.m. to noon Monday at First Presbyterian Church, 201 Wick Ave. The focus of the workshop is “Saving our Democracy.” The event is hosted in conjunction with the Martin Luther King Day Committee.
