COMMUNITY NEWS: Program on state birds set in Austintown
AUDUBON PROGRAM: The Audubon Society Mahoning Valley will present its monthly program at 7 p.m. Feb. 25 at the Austintown Senior Center, 112 Westchester Drive. Social time starts at 6:30 p.m. The program will be Fifty State Birds … And More, presented by Ray Novotny, Mill Creek MetroParks’ naturalist emeritus, who will combine his fondness for feathered friends, maps and dates. It is free.
REVERSE RAFFLE: The Boardman Schools Fund For Educational Excellence 10th annual reverse raffle will be 6 p.m. March 7 at Mr. Anthony’s Banquet Center in Boardman. Twenty-four grant recipients representing 11 wish list projects will be honored.
The raffle is the main fundraiser for BSFEE, a component fund of the Community Foundation of the Mahoning Valley.
There will be many prize-winning activities as well as a series of cash prizes given away during the course of the evening. The final ticket drawn at the end of the night will be worth $2,000.

WORLD WAR II HERITAGE GROUP: Jeff Dreves of Vienna will speak on his experience with the Army in Vietnam at 7 p.m. today at the World War II Heritage Group meeting at A La Cart Catering, 429 Lisbon St. in Canfield.
CAREER FAIR: Junior Achievement of Eastern Ohio will present the JA Inspire Career Fair Wednesday at the Metroplex Expo Center in Liberty. More than 1,000 high school seniors and juniors are scheduled to attend. The program is on how to get a job and keep a job and skills to be successful in the workplace.
COMMUNITY OUTREACH: The GFWC Ohio Austintown Junior Women’s League will host an annual scholarship and community outreach fundraiser, The Taste of Austintown, March 1 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish Center in Austintown.
SOCIETY TO MEET: The Poland Historical Society will meet at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Little Red Schoolhouse, 4515 Center Road. Jeff Mihalik will present a program on “Outhouse Anthology” about historical artifacts uncovered in the ruins of old outhouses The program is free.
QUILTING GROUP: That Quilt Group I Belong to invites local quilters to meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Fair Park in Canfield. The guild of quilters meet the third Tuesday of each month. Quilters of all skill levels are invited. For information, call Jeanne at 330-507-4672.
SCHOLARSHIP: Applications are being accepted for the Richard T. Naples Scholarship. A total of 30 $1,000 scholarships are being made available. In 1998, Richard T Naples Sr. and the founder of Wholesale Fireworks established the Richard T. Naples Sr. Educational Foundation. Already more than 60 scholarships totaling more than $600,000 have been awarded to local students. The deadline to apply is March 31. MUSEUMS FOR ALL: The Mahoning Valley Historical Society has joined Museums for All, a signature access program. Through Museums for All, those receiving food assistance (SNAP benefits) can gain free or reduced admission to more than 1,400 museums in the United States by presenting their EBT card and a photo ID. The program assists those who visit the Arms Family Museum and the Tyler History Center.
