Springfield returns with Waite for ’80s tour at Youngstown amp

Rick Springfield is returning to Youngstown Foundation Amphitheatre on June 28 for another edition of the I Want My ’80s Tour.

Springfield and Paul Young were part of the tour when it played the outdoor venue in 2023. This time they’ll be joined by John Waite – who had hits as a solo artist (“Missing You”) and as lead singer of The Babys (“Everytime I Think of You”) and Bad English (“When I See You Smile”) — and Wang Chung (“Dance Hall Days,” “Everybody Have Fun Tonight”).

Springfield has sold more than 25 million albums in his career and had 17 top 40 hits in the United States, including “Jessie’s Girl,” “Don’t Talk to Strangers,” “I’ve Done Everything For You,” and “Love Somebody.” As an actor, he’s known for his stint on the soap opera “General Hospital,” and he’s appeared opposite Meryl Streep in “Ricki and the Flash” and in the HBO series “True Detective.”

British blue-eyed soul singer Paul Young is best known in the states for the chart-topping single “Every Time You Go Away,” and his worldwide hits also include “Love of the Common People,” “I’m Gonna Tear Your Playhouse Down,” “Wherever I Lay My Hat (That’s My Home)” and “Come Back and Stay.”

Tickets for the 7:30 p.m. show range from $45 to $135 and go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday at the Covelli Centre’s Southwoods Health box office and through Ticketmaster. An online-only presale runs from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Thursday with the password: JESSE.

Starting at $2.99/week.
