Boy, 3, dies after being shot Monday in South Side home

YOUNGSTOWN — A 3-year-old boy died Monday night after being shot at about 5 p.m. in a home in the 2000 block of Pointview Avenue on the South Side, according to Youngstown police.

The boy died later at the hospital, said Lt. Mohammad Awad of the Youngstown police detective division. Pointview Avenue is two blocks north of Midlothian Boulevard.

Awad said the investigation is in the early stages. There has been a lack of cooperation among people who may have been inside the home, he said.
