Man dies in single-car crash on South Ave.
YOUNGSTOWN — A fatal single-car crash occurred on South Avenue about 9:15 p.m. Friday.
According to a police report, a northbound vehicle went out of control, struck a pole and rolled over on its side at South Avenue near Samuel Avenue.
A man inside the vehicle did not survive the crash, the report states, but positive identification was being withheld pending the Mahoning County coroner’s notification to the victim’s family. The man was about 40 to 50 years old, the report states.
Police also are investigating a car that flipped over Saturday morning in the northbound lane of Interstate 680 near the state Route 711 interchange. The lane was closed until the accident could be cleared. One passenger was hurt, but no other details were available, a police clerk said.
