Man indicted for murder in alleged ‘love triangle’
YOUNGSTOWN — Keylon T. White, 29, of Salt Springs Road, was indicted Thursday on murder charges in the Aug. 9 shooting death of James Merchant, 28. Authorities say the case involves a “love triangle.”
If White is convicted, he could get a life prison sentence. He is likely to be arraigned in Mahoning County Common Pleas Court in the coming weeks. He is not in the Mahoning County jail, according to jail records.
Merchant’s body was found in the driver’s seat of a black Chrysler SUV in the 900 block of Alameda Avenue on the North Side, according to police. His death originally was investigated as a suicide.
An autopsy was conducted at the Cuyahoga Medical Examiner’s Office, and the case was then investigated as a homicide, police said.
