WHAT: Township trustees July 9 meeting
PRESENT: William Colletta, Rick Hernandez and Jason Tedrow
Trustees:
• Awarded a bid of $137,000 to United Contractors Inc. for the restroom renovation project which will begin later this year and is being funded by local ARPA Funds.
• Were informed the police body cameras presently in service are outdated and cannot be replaced / repaired through the present company. Trustees purchased 10 body cameras from Halo Company at $65 per camera per month for three years plus a $200 upfront fee for clips for attachment to vest.
• Purchased a radar sign PC-400 for $3,270. This will assist officers in areas of speeding in the township.
• Approved C. Crump Inc. at $20,300 for a recycling pad, with $20,000 reimbursed from a grant from Trumbull Geauga Waste District. The recycling pad is complete and landscaping work is being completed.
• Heard from Hernandez the Eagle Joint Fire District will purchase a power cot for $70,000. The Rotary Club will donate property to the EJFD at no cost.
• Were informed Kirila Contractors has finished the 2024 blacktop paving project. Roads included were Laurel Park, Bell Avenue and Mount Everett Road. The township is applying for 2025 Ohio Public Works Commission funding for John White Road from Creed to Pothour Wheeler Road.
• Approved entering into joint application with Hubbard city for OPWC funds for the repaving of Harding Park.
• Increased police budget by $16,000 to purchase a police cruiser from Vienna Township.
• Recognized Brian Cox from Brian Cox Quarter Horse Farm who donated his time to cut and clean debris with his equipment at the corner of Seifert Lewis Road and state Route 304.
• Heard that police held a meeting with a resident on Thornton Avenue, along with Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, Federal Bureau of Investigation and Homeland Security to review what is being detonated. Officials said they confirmed he’s permitted to discharge what he showed to agents.
