Mahoning County grand jury indicts nearly two dozen

YOUNGSTOWN — A Mahoning County grand jury returned nearly two dozen indictments on Thursday, including one secret indictment on three first-degree felony rape counts. The identity of the person will be revealed once he or she is in custody.

Also indicted Thursday were Samuel X. Perez of Youngstown on charges of aggravated murder, murder and aggravated robbery, all with firearm specifications, and cocaine possession; and Denise K. Wiggins of Smith Township on dozens of animal cruelty charges.

Others indicted are:

• Jashawn M. Johnson, 20, Campbell, failure to comply with the order or signal of a police officer, aggravated drug possession with a forfeiture specification and possession of a fentanyl-related compound.

• Phillip D. Harris, 51, Mahoning County jail, possession of a fentanyl-related compound.

• Damian D. Foster, 28, Ferndale Avenue, Youngstown, cocaine possession.

• Banjo A. Akande, 39, Logan Gate Road, Liberty, one count each of patient abuse and assault.

• Danny P. Geisler, 35, Market Street, Youngstown, theft.

• Jennifer L. Mondora, 46, Meadowbrook Avenue, Poland, theft.

• Travail A. Miller, 24, McGuffey Road, Youngstown, one count each of tampering with evidence and improperly handling firearms in a motor vehicle.

• Jeremy L. Pruitt, 34, Plaza View Court, Youngstown, cocaine possession and aggravated possession of drugs, both with a forfeiture specification.

• Walter W. Welsh, 25, Mahoning County jail, strangulation and misdemeanor domestic violence.

• Curtis A. Brooks, 28, Dallas, Ga., felonious assault and discharge of a firearm on or near prohibited premises, both with a firearm and drive-by shooting specifications, tampering with evidence and two counts of endangering children.

• Bennie Lewis Jr., 66, Mahoning County jail, breaking and entering, and misdemeanor charges of theft and criminal damaging.

• William L. Armstrong, 56, Mahoning County jail, intimidation, retaliation, two counts of assault, obstructing official business and misdemeanor count of resisting arrest.

• Luis Mateo IV, 36, Hazelwood Avenue, Youngstown, two counts of aggravated drug possession.

• Byron Johnson, 30, East Lucius Avenue, Youngstown, cocaine possession with a forfeiture specification.

• Perasia S. Godfrey, 18, Florida Avenue, Youngstown, felonious assault.

• Christine Rotan, 38, Third Street, Youngstown, possession of a fentanyl-related compound and a misdemeanor count of illegal possession of drug paraphernalia.

• Corey Clinkscale Jr., 32, Fairgreen Avenue, Youngstown, two counts of aggravated drug possession, cocaine possession, possession of a fentanyl-related compound and drug possession, all with a forfeiture specification, obstructing official business and illegal use or possession of drugs.

• Justin G. Conner, 41, Davis Motel, North Lima, assault, obstructing official business and a misdemeanor count of resisting arrest.

• Vincent M. Broll, 38, Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, Youngstown, theft.

• Nicolas Yiannaki, 46, Glenbrook Road, Boardman, improperly handling firearms in a motor vehicle, OVI and using weapons while intoxicated.

• Davonte T. Whitfield, 30, Ridge Avenue, Youngstown, improperly handling firearms in a motor vehicle.

• Javott F. Dawson, 21, Campbell, aggravated drug possession with a forfeiture specification and a misdemeanor count of obstructing official business.

• Jason S. Curry, 18, Eastview Drive, Youngstown, failure to verify address.

• Roland Fink, 50, Kirk Road, Austintown, failure to provide notice of change of address.
