E-Waste collection drive set for Nov. 22 at Oak Hill Collaborative
YOUNGSTOWN — Oak Hill Collaborative will host its inaugural E-Waste Collection Drive 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday.
The drive will be hosted at Oak Hill Collaborative’s Main Branch Location, 507 Oak Hill Avenue in Youngstown.
Residents can drop off technology that no longer works or is unwanted. After the drive ends, OHC partner GreenBoard IT will collect all materials and properly recycle and dispose of the technology, according to a news release from OHC.
The drive acts as a way for OHC to encourage community members to do their part in safely recycling unwanted devices and prevent dangerous materials from ending up in landfills.
GreenBoard IT guarantees its clients’ e-waste disposals comply with state and federal regulations and ensures landfill reduction practices. Some items accepted at the collection site include laptops, PCs, DVD players, MP3 players, gaming consoles, routers, hard drives, keyboards, wires, scanners, LCD monitors, servers, cameras and other technology.
Printers, TVs and CRT monitors cannot be accepted.
Coinciding with the drive Friday, OHC will offer a free, public course on e-waste at noon. The class will discuss what e-waste is, how it’s recycled and how refurbished technology can impact the environment.
