WHAT: Township trustees meeting Nov. 19
PRESENT: Dave Tomaino, Edward Villone and Wendy DeBernardi
Trustees:
• Approved spending $150 to repair the flag and flagpole at the administration building.
• Approved purchase of a snow plow for $1,451.50.
• Approved an agreement to have an officer serve on the Mahoning County Law Enforcement Task Force.
• Passed a resolution authorizing Tomaino to sign a contract for the Ohio Public Works Commission grant.
• Approved the Ninjio Cyber Security Training Program at $1,339.20 total for all 30 employees.
The training has a concentration on making businesses and their employees aware of cyber attacks and internet phishing.
• Approved the termination of Shannon Paulus from the fire department following a six-week termination letter.
• Approved the hiring of Chelsea Christy to the fire department duty crew as soon as possible.
• Awarded and approved the fire department BWC grant for $40,000 toward ordering the power cot and loader before any 2025 price increases.
• Awarded the fire department the 2024 / 2025 EMS Grant of $4,029.76.
• Congratulated firefighter Dave Dunn Jr. for being the recipient of a rescue diver certification.
• Approved $1,451.06 to repair new edges on two snow plows.
• Received confirmation from Mahoning County Land Reutilization Corp. (Land Bank) that funding has been approved for demolition of five defective houses and will evaluate the scope of work starting. The Land Bank crew will be on site, testing for asbestos. Zoning Inspector Michael Kurilla anticipates construction to begin the first quarter of 2025.
• Received an update from police Chief Charles VanDyke on the MARCS radio system. Cost is $300 for each radio update for 19 radios and $5 to the state for a total of $5,795. Grant funding is available for September 2025.
• Set the reorganizational meeting at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 10 with the regular meeting to follow at 7 p.m.
