WHAT: Village council meeting Wednesday
PRESENT: Sean Schmidt, Kyle Joynes, Kerry Reckard, Chad Jones, John Metzinger, Don Smith and Mayor Ray Lewis
Council:
•Gave first reading to a 7.5% pay increase to 13 employees which includes fiscal officer, building inspector, road, water and office staff.
•Approved increases in permits and rentals. Swimming pool permits will increase from $25 to $75 and building permits for sheds, fences and other items from $20 to $30. Rental of the Woodland Park pavilion will increase from $30 to $50 for residents and $60 to $80 for non-residents.
•Announced resident John Muckridge Jr. will light the Christmas tree at the holiday celebration, 6 p.m. Nov. 30 by the municipal building and park.

WHAT: Board of Education meeting Wednesday
PRESENT: Jody Klase, Donna Shields, Nick Gallo, Jessica Krumpak and Christine Merola
The board:
•Took the first step to place a renewal emergency operating levy on the May 6 primary ballot to generate $260,000 annually for emergency needs of the district. The second reading will be at the Dec. 18 meeting. Officials said with a renewal there is no increase in taxes.
•Approved an update to the meeting policy with people asked to sign up ahead of time to speak to address the school board at monthly meetings, with a deadline 3 p.m. the day of the meeting. Those wanting to speak are asked to let the board know what they plan to discuss.
•Accepted retirement resignation of Diane Hughes, central office assistant budgetary clerk, effective April 1 with 20 years of service.
•Accepted a quote from Apptegy for district website redesign services at a one-time development cost of $12,225 and annual fee of $8,425.
•Approved S&S Tree Service for snow plowing and salting services at $350 to $450 for plowing 2 to 5 inches, $450 to $550 for plowing 5 to 10 inches and $150 for salting.
•Approved purchase of equipment for Roosevelt Elementary School cafeteria. Items include two gas convention ovens at $28,713 each, a reach-in heated holding cabinet at $6,821 and dishwasher at $8,315.
•Hired Rachel Mastrian as a Title I teacher at $25 per hour for 28.75 hours per week.
