Pizza delivery driver robbed on West Side
YOUNGSTOWN — A pizza delivery driver was robbed of food about 5 a.m. Sunday in front of a home on South Glenellen Avenue on the city’s West Side.
The worker said he was there to deliver two large pizzas and two boxes of chicken wings, but the man took the food and $15 in cash before walking toward a nearby house. The driver did not see the man go into a house.
The driver said when he arrived at the delivery location, the man was outside waiting for him. He tried to pay with a $100 bill, but the driver said he could not accept a large bill like that and it was counterfeit.
The suspect then pulled out a handgun and took the money and cash, saying “Sorry, I need this for my kids” and walked away. The driver then returned to his car and drove down the street and called for police.
The suspect was in his 20s, about 5 feet, 9 inches tall and 180 pounds with hair about two inches to three inches long slicked back and wearing a black and red hooded sweatshirt with a bandanna sticking out of the pocket.
The restaurant said the male who ordered the food was “Cheza K,” who called once that night asking what time the business closed and the second time ordering the food.
Officers spoke to the resident of the nearby home and she said there was no male there and no male had been there. The fake $100 bill was logged into the evidence room.
