Man accused of abuse, vandalism being sought
BOARDMAN — Police are looking for a man they say abused his ex-girlfriend and trashed her brother’s apartment.
The Boardman police report does not include a name for the suspect, but states that the woman and her brother returned to the Southern Boulevard apartment about 11 p.m. Sunday to find it had been vandalized with food and liquid. They told police the woman’s ex-boyfriend most likely did it.
The report states the woman told police that she and her ex were staying in the apartment since Saturday. She told them they began arguing about 3 a.m. Sunday after he demanded to see her phone and started verbally abusing her after he saw text messages between her and other men friends.
While berating her, she said he would grab her hair and shake her violently and also choked her several times. The report states that when she told him to leave her alone so she could lie down and relax, he told her he would kill her in her sleep.
The report states she told him what he wanted to hear to get him to calm down but he continued to act violently. When she told him she was leaving the apartment, he threw her to the ground and told her she could not leave. She told police she managed to escape about 8 a.m. and tried to go to a friend’s house nearby but the friend was not home, so she wandered around Boardman for about two hours.
She told police he would not give her phone back to her. When she returned to the apartment, he was still there and continued to insult and attack her until her friend arrived to take her out of the apartment.
The report states that when she returned to the apartment at 11:15 p.m., there was food scattered everywhere, across furniture, beds, electronics, and clothing, with liquids poured all over everything as well, and a fake Christmas tree was broken and thrown on the floor of a bedroom.
The brother told police he would pursue charges, but the woman told them she needed to think about it, the report states.
