Struthers, Canfield students win conservation contest
The Mahoning County Soil & Water Conservation District has announced the winners of its 2024 Winter Conservation Billboard Contest.
This annual competition encouraged students in grades K-4 from across Mahoning County to showcase their artistic talents and raise awareness for this year’s theme of “Salt Smart, Play Your Part: Keep Our Water Clean from the Start!”
After reviewing a wide range of creative and thoughtful designs, the Mahoning SWCD Board of Supervisors selected one winner from each grade level. The winning entries will be prominently displayed on billboards throughout Mahoning County, helping to spread the message about the importance of protecting our water resources during the winter.
The winning designs will be on display through Jan. 5 at the following locations:
l Corner of Market Street and U.S. Route 224 in front of Pep Boys (east of Southern Boulevard, west facing).
l Corner of state Route 7 (Market Street) and state Route 164 (South facing).
“These students have done an exceptional job of creating designs that are not only eye-catching but also communicate an important environmental message,” said Zack Felger, outreach and education specialist for Mahoning SWCD. “We are so proud of their efforts and excited to see their work displayed for the entire community to enjoy.
