Trumbull County recorder wins prestigious state honor

S

WARREN — Trumbull County Recorder Tod Latell was recognized with one of the highest honors a recorder in Ohio can receive.

The Ohio Recorders’ Association recognized Latell as a 2024 Golden Quill award winner at their annual winter conference and banquet Nov. 20 in Dublin.

The association’s members are asked to nominate a recorder who contributes to the standardization of filing practices in offices statewide and the promotion of research, development and preparation for legislation that develops better administration of the Ohio recorder’s offices, a press release states.

The recorder’s office is responsible for keeping records of real estate ownership, liens and encumbrances for various groups, such as the public, attorneys and land title examiners. The office also performs accounting functions and notifies county and township governments to file zoning resolutions, maps and amendments.

Latell has served on the association’s legislative committee since 2020. He represented the association as a delegate with the Ohio Council of County Officials and was their sole delegate with the International Association of Government Officials.

While Latell, a Democrat, had served two terms as county recorder, he was defeated by Republican Dawn Zinni in the November general election.

Starting at $2.99/week.
