Board of education eyes new building

Weathersfield schools negotiating on land by stadium

WEATHERSFIELD — The Weathersfield Board of Education has approved Superintendent Damon Dohar to continue talks with B&I Management for securing a vacant building near the football stadium.

Dohar said he is speaking with company officials about purchasing the building at 3729 Union St., which is on 2.5 acres of land southwest of the stadium. The district would like to have the building for school administrative purposes and student services.

Dohar said he is hoping to reach an agreement with B&I officials by the end of January.

Officials said the building was previously used for office space.

In other business, the board at the December meeting approved a new five-year contract for Dohar as superintendent.

The board also approved recognizing indoor track as a sport for the school district. Jon Culp will serve as a volunteer indoor track coach.
