Campbell woman arrested for failure to appear

LIBERTY — A Campbell woman pleaded not guilty at her arraignment Tuesday after being arrested by Liberty police on an active warrant and a drug-related charge Sunday.

Briyana Littlejohn, 35, was arrested on an active failure to appear traffic offense warrant and a drug paraphernalia charge.

According to the police report, an officer on patrol around Belmont Avenue and Liberty Street noticed a black Mazda heading northbound on Belmont, with its rear driver’s side passenger door having a small window knocked out. The officer got behind the driver and ran the car’s plates through the system while it was parked at the Days Inn, and when it wasn’t marked as stolen, continued to watch for a bit longer.

The officer noticed a woman wearing a blue outfit get out of the car and go into the hotel, and after seeing her face and looking at the registration again, realized it was not the registered owner, Brittany Littlejohn, the report states. He noted that the car had been pulled over before by Liberty police, where a Briyana had operated it previously and was cited for a suspended license.

A search of Briyana’s records showed her license was suspended and she had an active warrant for not appearing in court on a traffic offense. The officer continued to wait for Briyana for 10 to 15 minutes, watching her walk out and eventually pulling her over, the report states.

Upon speaking to her, Briyana said she didn’t have a license and that it was her sister’s car, telling the officer that she did have a warrant. The officer placed her under arrest, and a quick patdown search revealed an item that she confirmed to be a crack pipe in her right pocket.

The report states that while creating a citation for Briyana, she began to argue with the officer and started screaming and kicking the back part of the police vehicle’s partition, telling him that there was “no probable cause” to pull her over.

Briyana was booked on her active warrant then released on a drug paraphernalia summons.

The report states a female officer searched her and found a blue pouch, which the other officer opened, and found a white rock-like substance affiliated with cocaine. The suspected drugs are to be sent out to a chemical lab, and positive results could result in a possession of drugs charge.

She’s set to appear in Girard Municipal Court for a pretrial hearing Jan. 29, court records show.

Starting at $2.99/week.
