Car at city gas station struck by bullets on Monday night
YOUNGSTOWN — Surveillance video at the Quick Check gas station, 1907 South Ave., captured a man firing a gun at a car parked at the gas pumps Monday night on the South Side. The victims drove away afterward without waiting for police.
Police were called to the gas station at 6:22 p.m. for a vehicle being struck by bullets. When officers arrived, they found glass near the pumps and found 12 bullet shell casings on the ground near the pumps. The casings were two different brands but the same caliber, according to a Youngstown police report.
Store employees said a man was seen walking across the gas station parking lot just after one of the vehicle’s occupants got into the car on the passenger side.
That is when the man on foot opened fire on the car.
The shooter was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with a face mask and black jogger-style bottoms with white lettering on the left leg, the report states.
The shooter had a weapon that appeared to have a possible drum-style magazine.
A second man with the shooter and the shooter approached the gas station from Dickson Street to the north of the gas station, the report states. The man with the shooter was wearing a white top and black bottoms, and waited on the grass on the north side of the gas station parking lot. He was last seen running north and east onto Dickson, the report noted.
The driver of the car never exited the car. The car was struck on the rear windshield, the report states. The vehicle left the parking lot after the gunfire began and traveled north on South Avenue, the report states.
No one showed up at any area hospital with gunshot wounds, police said.
