Man robbed, shot on North Side
YOUNGSTOWN — A man was robbed and shot in the leg near the Arlington Heights basketball courts along Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard on the North Side on Wednesday night.
The victim told police at St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital that he was walking on an unknown street near the basketball courts when two males approached him and asked where he was going, according to a Youngstown police report.
He told them “home,” and one of them pulled out a gun and ordered him to give up his valuables. The victim said he did not think the gun was real and started to fight them.
One of the suspects fired a shot at him, which missed. The victim then began to run. One of the suspects ran up to him with a gun and shot him in the thigh, the report states.
Police were notified of the incident at 8 p.m., but the report indicates it occurred between 7:45 p.m. and 7:50 p.m.
The suspects took the victim’s size 10 red Balenciaga shoes and about $300 in cash before running off, the report states. An unknown passerby took the victim to the hospital, where the victim was in stable condition. Balenciaga shoes cost around $1,000, according to online sellers.
The victim described one male as having albinism and dreadlocks, about 5-foot-11 and a thin build; and a male about six feet tall with a thin build wearing a red mask or
bandana.
