HUBBARD TOWNSHIP — The decision on who will fill the trustee seat left vacant by Rick Hernandez’s departure is out of the hands of trustees Jason Tedrow and William Colletta.

Colletta said they’ve turned the search over to Trumbull County Probate Court Judge James A. Fredericka, explaining he and Tedrow tried to work together to come up with a common person to join them. However, they could not agree on someone because they differed in what traits would be most important to the position.

Hernandez, a Republican, resigned last month to become Trumbull County commissioner. He won the seat in the Nov. 6 election against former commissioner Dan Polivka, a Democrat.

Colletta said he spoke with Fredericka, who told him it isn’t an uncommon practice for trustees to disagree in a similar manner and he has selected many trustees for that reason.

“The longest he can take is 30 days; he assured me he’ll have it done a lot sooner,” Colletta said.
