Unionized county workers get 10% raises over three years
WARREN — The Trumbull County commissioners approved a contract that will provide a 10% increase in wages over the next three years for 127 county employees being represented by American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees Local 2493.
Employees affected by the new contract work for the county’s building maintenance, vehicle maintenance, building inspection, clerk of courts, treasurer, dog kennel and sanitation engineering departments.
Once the contract is finalized, each employee under the agreement will receive a contract ratification bonus of $750, which will cost the county about $95,000.
“The 10% wage increase over the three-year period is what was negotiated with all the other contracts negotiated,” said Human Resources Director Alexandra DeVengencie Bush.
The first pay increase of 4% was effective as of Aug. 1, 2024; the second 4% increase will be effective Aug. 1, 2025, and the final 2% increase will be effective after Aug. 1, 2026.
The contract also increases the compensation for people who obtain specialized EPA licenses in water distribution, water supply and lab analysis by $.50 per hour.
The monthly premium for health care for members’ contributions to health care plans will remain at 12%.
Commissioners also approved an increased salary schedule for nonunion employees working in the offices that have members of Local 2493.
