Columbus man arrested on theft charge in Liberty

LIBERTY — A Columbus man was released on bond Tuesday after being arrested by Liberty police Monday.

Louis Hicks, 54, was charged with theft, obstructing official business and resisting arrest.

According to the police report, officers were dispatched to the Liberty Plaza Walmart in response to a shoplifting report. Officers were told the suspect ran through the parking lot and got onto a WRTA bus.

Officers eventually tracked down the bus at a Belmont Avenue Motel 6 to catch the man meeting the description given to them. He fled after officers checked the bus for any other suspects matching his profile, the report states.

Officers eventually caught the man after he ran 30 yards through the motel’s parking lot. He began having a seizure-like episode after being informed of his arrest.
