Employee robbed at U-Haul store in Warren

WARREN — Bond was set at $200,000 for a Youngstown man accused of robbing a U-Haul employee at gunpoint Sunday afternoon.

Robert Elias, 44, of Edgewater Drive, pleaded not guilty to second-degree robbery before Warren Municipal Court Judge Natasha K. Natale. His next court appearance is scheduled for March 4. As a condition of bond, Elias would not be allowed inside U-Haul stores or permitted to drive, according to court records.

According to a Warren police report, the robbery occurred at the U-Haul store in the 600 block of Main Avenue SW around 2:30 p.m. Sunday.

The employee told police the suspect entered the store, implied he had a firearm and demanded her to give him money from the cash register before he fled, the report states.

Officers located Elias near Vine Avenue NE and took him into custody. He was identified by the employee and transported to the Trumbull County jail.
