WARREN — A Youngstown man on trial for murder in Mahoning County was sentenced to 30 months in prison after pleading guilty in May 2024 to multiple charges.
Samuel X. Perez, 23, of Oregon Avenue in Youngstown, was sentenced to 30 months in prison after pleading guilty in May to charges of failing to comply with a police officer’s signal, receiving stolen property and resisting arrest during a police chase on Dec. 8, 2023.
Perez, who is in the Mahoning County jail, faces additional murder charges in connection with the June 18, 2024, death of 22‑year‑old Angel Sostre on the East Side of Youngstown.
The charges related to his Trumbull County case stem from an incident in Liberty, where Perez was found driving a stolen vehicle, triggering a high‑speed pursuit by law enforcement. Authorities confirmed that he is also responsible for paying $2,500 in restitution to the vehicle’s owner. His actions during the chase ultimately led him to plead guilty, resulting in a 30‑month prison term.
