Weathersfield proceeds with pickleball courts
WEATHERSFIELD — Township trustees said work will begin this month to build four pickleball courts at the park off Stewart Street.
Trustees at a special meeting Thursday awarded a design-build contract with Miller Yount Paving Inc. of Cortland at $148,700, which will be covered by a $150,000 American Rescue Plan grant provided by the Trumbull County commissioners.
Trustee Ed Whittaker said residents have been asking him about when the pickleball courts will be opened. He said work on the courts will begin in March and be done by August.
“This is exciting for our residents,” Whittaker said.
The work will include fencing and lighting.
Trustee Rich Harkins said rules will need to be established and posted at the park on use of the pickleball court when it is completed.
Trustees previously said residents have wanted pickleball courts added to the park.
