2 men indicted in Jan. 24 South Side homicide

YOUNGSTOWN — A Mahoning County grand jury has indicted Terry Hopkins, 22, and Kenneth Carter, 34, in the Jan. 24 killing of Resean Graham, 42, on Greselda Avenue on the South Side.

Both are likely to be arraigned in Mahoning County Common Pleas Court in the coming weeks.

The Youngstown Police Department has said officers were called to Griselda at 7:36 p.m. Jan. 24 for a person who was shot. Officers saw Graham lying near the front doorway of a home with multiple gunshot wounds and began life-saving measures until the arrival of ambulance

personnel. Graham later died.

Also indicted Thursday was Isaac A. Bethel, 22, on two counts of felonious assault with gun specifications and one count of improperly discharging a firearm at or into a habitation or school safety zone with a firearm specification.

Bethel is accused of shooting a man on Hudson Avenue about 6 p.m. Feb. 26. A Youngstown police report states that when officers arrived, they found the victim sitting on the front porch steps, and he was taken to the hospital.

He said Bethel shot him and said Bethel lived nearby. Officers later found Bethel at Mistletoe and Glenwood avenues not far away and took him into custody.

Others indicted Thursday are:

● Leartis Day, 47, Park Drive, Campbell, operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol, a drug of abuse or a combination of them (OVI).

● Anthony D. Gray, 22, Labelle Avenue, failure to comply with the order of a police officer.

● Wesley Evans, 35, Tenney Avenue, Campbell, being a felon in possession of a firearm.

● Stephen W. Hamner Jr., 18, East Park Avenue, East Palestine, two counts illegal conveyance or possession of a deadly weapon or dangerous ordnance in a school safety zone and misdemeanor aggravated menacing.

● Henry Wright, 18, Elruth Court, Girard, failure to comply with an order of a police officer.

● Jordan P. Hall, 41, Mahoning County jail, being a felon in possession of a firearm, cocaine possession and resisting arrest.

● Alika S. Thomas, 37, Breaden Street, Youngstown, receiving stolen property, illegal conveyance of drugs of abuse onto the grounds of a specified governmental facility, cocaine possession and fentanyl related compound possession.

● David A. Walker, 64, Rockhill Avenue, Alliance, workers’ compensation fraud.

● Robert J. Conway, 49, Shannon Road, Girard, theft from a person in a protected class.
