Rally to honor Fitch cheerleaders
A champion rally is planned at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Eastwood Mall, 5555 Youngstown-Warren Road, Niles, for the Austintown Fitch High School cheerleading team.
The team captured its second consecutive Division II OASSA State Championship on Feb. 23. The team will be honored with a rally at the mall’s center court.
As part of the ceremony, the Cafaro Foundation will make a donation to the school. The public is invited to attend.
Program looks at life during WWII
The 1940s will be the subject of the next Mahoning Valley Historical Society Bites and Bits of History program.
Traci Manning, MVHS curator of education, will discuss America’s involvement in World War II, the thousands of local men and women who served during the war and its lasting impact on life in the Mahoning Valley and nationwide.
“Testing our Strength: The Steel Valley in the 1940s” starts at noon Thursday at the Tyler History Center, 325 W. Federal St., Youngstown. Admission is free. Bites and Bits of History Lunchtime programs are sponsored by the John and Loretta Hynes Foundation.
SMARTS students to show artistry
YOUNGSTOWN — Students Motivated by the Arts (SMARTS) is hosting two nights of student demonstrations showing what they learned during it Spring 2025 Public Programming
More than 150 students will demonstrate, either live or by video, classwork from SMARTS Street Band, yoga, video editing, science fiction writing, rock band guitar, piano, violin, cello and other courses.
“Art You Can See” and “Art You Can Hear” events will be at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday at SMARTS, Ohio One Building, 25 E. Boardman St., Youngstown. Admission is free.
