WHAT: City council meeting Monday

Council:
• Scheduled a public hearing at 6:15 p.m. June 9 for a zone change request from residential to business on Cherry Street by Berk Enterprises, which wants to have additional parking for their business, Past Times Arcade, off Route 422.
• Heard from Grumley of the Parkwood cleanup event Saturday where students and community members cleared trash and debris along Moser Road and other areas. He said there were 36 volunteers who filled 49 bags with litter. There also was a sofa and tires collected.
• Heard from Schubert of the need to improve the entrance of the cemetery and also plant new pear trees at the cemetery.
• Announced a ribbon cutting ceremony for the new disc golf course will be May 19.
• Heard from Safety / Service Director Mark Ragozine the justice center parking lot will be paved and striped for two days this week by Pantalone Paving. Plans are to have the first farmers market there at the end of May.
• Heard from Ragozine a meeting will be 5 p.m. Monday at the Girard Multi-Generational Center about the city seeking a $750,000 neighborhood revitalization grant.
• Approved hiring up to four temporary seasonal employees.
