Victim in fatal I-80 crash identified as Sharpsville, Pa., man

HUBBARD — The Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Warren Post has identified the person who died in Wednesday’s fatal crash.

Joshua Marriotti, 42, of Sharpsville, Pennsylvania, was traveling eastbound in a Buick Envision on Interstate 80 at 3:26 p.m. Tuesday afternoon, according to a news release from the post.

The release states the vehicle struck the rear of a dump truck driven by Stephen Varga, 57, of Brookfield, which was also heading eastbound.

While Liberty EMS transported Varga to Sharon Regional Medical Center with minor injuries, Marriotti was pronounced dead on the scene. Eastbound lanes of I-80 were closed for the duration of the crash.

Hubbard Township’s police, fire and EMS and the Eagle Joint Fire District, as well as the Ohio Department of Transportation, assisted on the scene.

The OSP is still investigating the crash.
