Ronald B. Dull 1929-2020

WESTERVILLE — Ronald Bruce Dull, age 91, passed away peacefully Saturday, Nov. 21, 2020, at his home in Westerville, surrounded by family and friends.

Ron was born June 2, 1929, in Warren, to Delbert Freeman and M. Florence Bascom Dull.

A musical prodigy, Ron sang on the radio as a toddler, taught himself Boogie Woogie music as a youth, and brought joy to countless people throughout his lifetime, whether playing the organ in churches or leading anti-war marches with his classic “Take Me Out of the Bomb Game.”

He earned a medical degree in podiatry prior to serving in the Army (1952-1954) during the Korean War. He was a podiatrist, loving father, caring friend, and lifelong activist for social and racial justice, as a member of the NAACP, AFSCME, and the Youngstown Peace Council, among others.

Ron is survived by his brothers, Roger “Buzz,” David and Lee; daughter, Lee Fahey and her husband, Steve (Fla.); son, John Dahl (Canada); daughters, Dolores Byrnes and Laura Dull (N.Y.); sons, David Dull (N.C.), Jeremy Keirsey and his wife, Wendy (Ohio), Joshua Keirsey and his wife Natalie (Ohio); and by his second wife, Winifred Keirsey, mother of Jeremy and Joshua; and his grandchildren, Janine Edwards (Calif.), Alayne Lyman (DC), Gavin Byrnes (N.Y.), Daniel Dahl (Canada), Brigid Byrnes (Oreg.), Diana Dahl (Canada), Connor Keirsey (Ohio), Caitlin Keirsey (Ohio), Ryan Higgs (Fla.), Asher Keirsey (Fla.), and Carter Keirsey (Ohio).

Ron was preceded in death by his son, Randy Dull; sister, Deanna “Cissie”; and first wife, Patricia J. Masters.
