Joanne Testa 1948-2021

MONROE, Mich. — Joanne Testa, 73, passed away peacefully Tuesday, April 13, 2021, in the comfort of her daughter Angela’s home in Monroe, Mich. She was in the midst of her loving family.
Joanne was born Feb. 21, 1948, in Youngstown, the first daughter of Anna Duncko Hruska and Steven Hruska. She lived in Youngstown until she and her husband, Richard, moved to Florida in 2000.
Joanne attended St. Matthias School and Vincentian High School, from where she graduated in 1966. She then went on to St. Elizabeth School of Nursing, graduating as an RN in 1969. She also earned a B.A. in administration from YSU.
During her remarkable career, Joanne worked in many different capacities: RN, nursing supervisor, clinic administrator, mental health hospital supervisor and licensed risk manager. She retired in 2015 after 46 years in health care services.
Joanne was one of the first women to join South County Democrats. She was also a strong advocate for women’s rights and served as local N.O.W. president.
Her first priority was always her family. She was selflessly devoted to the wellbeing of her husband, Richard, her daughter, Angela (Chris) Button and granddaughter, Sydney Button. Joanne was a strong and beautiful woman who always put others first and she will be deeply missed.
Joanne was preceded in death by her father, Steven Hruska; and her in-laws, Ellen Mantini Testa and Henry Testa.
She is survived by Richard, her husband of 51 years; her daughter, Angela; her granddaughter, Sydney; her mother, Anna; her three sisters, Nancy (James) Hildebrand, Rosemary (John) Goodwin and Linda (Gary) Frank; and her brother, Steve (Cathy) Hruska. She was an aunt to eight nieces and nephews, and a great-aunt to 12 great-nieces and great-nephews.
