William F. Martin 1940-2023

He is the beloved husband of Karen S. Martin; loving father of William Martin Jr. (Sue), Michael Martin (Kristina) and the late Laura Piazza; brother of Corrine Crish (Richard); and cherished grandfather of Melissa Martin, Scott Martin, Joseph Piazza, Dominic Piazza and Rachel Piazza.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Glen Martin and Beryl Martin; brothers, Richard Buck Martin (Geraldine) and Glen Bing Martin (Janet); and sisters, Jean Purucker (John), Carol DeZee, Judy Fornat and Dinah Taddi (Fred).

He retired from Merck and Company after 30 years of dedication, and was an avid Lake Erie and Gulf of Mexico fisherman, Columbia youth football and Hot Stove baseball coach for many years, a 1964 Kent State graduate and varsity football running back, and Austintown Fitch Hall of Fame 1959 inductee for football and track.

Visitation will be held 1 to 3 p.m. Friday, May 19, 2023, at Jardine Funeral Home, 15822 Pearl Road, Strongsville, OH 44136, where a memorial service will immediately follow at 3 p.m.
