Marilyn J. Ervin 1942-2023

AURORA — Marilyn J. Ervin, 80, passed away Friday, Nov. 10, 2023, at Independence Village.

Marilyn was born Nov. 27, 1942, in Youngstown, a daughter of the late William Woodrow and Vera Evelyn Miller.

She taught organ for many years, enjoyed flower gardening and sharing her perennials. Marilyn loved cooking and trying new recipes. She also loved traveling and music. Attending concerts with her husband and friends was a special time for her. She was an avid reader who visited the library often. She and her husband hosted and helped place many exchange students through the AISES exchange student program.

Marilyn will be deeply missed by her loving “daughters,” Karen (Jim) Cantelmi along with their children, Rachel and Vanessa; and Kelley (Magnus) Svensson along with their children, Amanda and Erik; brother, Robert (Judy) Miller; sister-in-law, Patricia Ervin; nieces and nephews, Bob (Michelle) Miller; Matthew (Stacey) Miller, Jennifer (TJ) Hosa, John (Melissa) Ervin, Michael (Katie) Ervin, Wendy Ervin and Keith (Jamie) Ervin; great-nieces and great-nephews, Will, Emily, Weston, Tandy, Jade, Savannah, John Jr., Katherine, Gianna, Sofia and Beatrice, Sydnee, Wyatt, Josephine, Avi and Garrett; and great-great-nephews, Colton, Brayden and Tucker.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Milton L. Ervin, whom she married Dec. 19, 1962, and who passed away July 18, 2018; and brothers-in-law, Robert and Larry Ervin.

A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 27, 2023, at Struthers Church of Christ, where she was a faithful member for many years, 5775 Poland Struthers Road, Route 616, Youngstown, OH 44514. Family and friends may visit a half-hour prior.
