Larry C. Berasi 1948-2024
CANFIELD — Larry Carl Berasi, 75, passed peacefully, Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2024, with his family by his side.
Larry was born Jan. 19, 1948, in Youngstown, the first son of Angelo and Louise Vennetti Berasi.
He graduated from Cardinal Mooney High School in 1966. After attending Pitt from 1967 to 1968, he graduated from Youngstown State University as a member of Alpha Phi Delta fraternity — achieving degrees in accounting and business. He founded Bridge Overlay Systems, and for over 30 years, overlaid bridges all over the state of Ohio, creating the process for doing so.
A sports enthusiast from a young age, he played high school football and was ultimately named to the Cardinal Mooney High School Football Hall of Fame. In later years, he treasured attending his grandson’s football and basketball games. Countless adventures on the golf course were had by Larry and his friends. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, traveling far and wide in pursuit of these interests, often with his grandsons or brother at his side.
Leisure travel was also important to Larry, who embraced his heritage in Italy over many visits and through his enjoyment of exploring the American West.
Larry maintained a passion for cooking, preferring to enjoy his Sundays in the kitchen preparing Italian dishes. His pursuit of the perfect sauce will live on.
Family was always at the center of his life, which extended to the family reunions he helped organize, the stories he told and the polenta he kept stirred.
He is survived by his daughters, Nicole Berasi and Heather Blazina; and grandchildren, Robert “R.J.” Kinsman, Tyler Blazina, Jake Blazina and Savannah Blazina.
He was preceded in death by his sisters, Noreen Musser and Denise Gatyko; and brother, Robert Berasi.
A memorial Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2024, at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Boardman. There are no calling hours.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family.
Arrangements were entrusted to the professional care of the Rossi Brothers and Lellio Funeral Home, 4442 South Ave., Boardman. Family and friends are encouraged to offer prayers for the family and support via phone call, text, email or may visit the Book of Memories at www.rossifunerals.com.
