George T. Chrismas 1923-2024

AUSTINTOWN — George T. Chrismas, 101, of Victoria House, Austintown, formerly of Canfield, passed away peacefully Friday afternoon, Feb. 16, 2024.
George was born Jan. 17, 1923, in Baltimore, Maryland, a son of the late Alfred G. and Beatrice White Chrismas. He came to this area as a young child, growing up on the West Side and graduating from Chaney High School in 1941.
George worked as a machinist during World War II for Metal Carbides and then was a mechanic for Donnell Ford for 23 years. In 1971, he became the senior auto mechanic instructor at MCTC until 1988, when he retired.
George was a motorcycle enthusiast, riding motorcycles until the age of 90. He also loved all forms of auto racing, especially sports cars, IndyCar and Formula One. After his retirement, George took up woodworking, making beautiful furniture.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, the former M. Arlene Miller, whom he married Nov. 27, 1943, and who passed away Aug. 30, 1999; and his second wife, the former Geraldine Newman, whom he married Nov. 1, 2000, and who passed away, Aug. 24, 2016.
He leaves his son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Elaine Mandoline Chrismas of Genoa, and an extended family of sons and daughters of close friends.

Friends may call 11 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 22, 2024, at Lane Funeral Homes, Canfield Chapel, followed by a service at 1 p.m.
The family has requested no flowers, due to allergies.
