Alfred ‘Barney’ Davison 1930-2024

Together again
CANFIELD — Alfred “Barney” Davison, 93, passed away peacefully, Thursday, March 14, 2024, at Aventura at Assumption Village in North Lima.
Barney was born June 30, 1930, in Youngstown to Alfred and Alice Leroy Davison. He attended Boardman High School. He began his working career at the Boardman Fire Department from 1955 to 1966, rising to the position of assistant fire chief. He then worked and ultimately retired from Sears in the Southern Park Mall after 30 years of service.
After retirement, he joined the Beaver Township Fire Department as a firefighter / EMT and volunteered at South Range Elementary School with the Reads Program. Barney was active with both the Beaver Township and Green Township Ruritans and served on the Beaver Township Park Board. He was inducted as an honorary member of the South Range Hall of Fame in 2019.
He is survived by his sons, Thomas “Ted” (Marjorie) Davison and Paul Davison; a sister, Margaret “Peg” Gibson; four grandchildren, Daniel (Katie) and Doug Davison, Annie (Brandon) Knueven and Katie Davison; five great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Barney was preceded in death by his wife, the former Bernadine Dill, whom he married June 15, 1957, and who passed away April 28, 2008; a son, Alfred “Skip” Davison; and a grandson, Eric Davison.
Friends will be received from 10 a.m. to noon on Tuesday, March 19, 2024, at the Davis-Becker Funeral Home in Boardman, followed immediately by a brief prayer service. He will be laid to rest with his wife at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Boardman.
