Robert W. Fry 1947-2024
PITTSBURG, Ill. — Robert Wayne Fry, 76, formerly of New Waterford and Petersburg, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2024, at 6:41 p.m., at his home.
He was born April 15, 1947, in Youngstown, a son of James Russell and Naida Bernice Anderson Fry.
Bob was a graduate of Springfield Local High School in Petersburg and furthered his education at Youngstown State University.
Bob spent many years as a heavy equipment operator for Operating Engineers Local #66, Pittsburgh, Pa. In his spare time, he enjoyed playing cards, especially Texas Hold ’em tournaments. He was excellent at shooting pool and was an avid Ohio State University football fan. Above all, Bob loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them.
He is survived by his daughter, Christy and her husband, Robert Motsinger; son, Michael; grandchildren, Sydney McKinney (Branden), Nikki Chaffin (Matt), Abby Motsinger (Cody Johnson), Tommy Dunn, Sammy Metcalf and Dalton Metcalf; four great-grandchildren; siblings, Patricia McEver (Dick Smith), James Fry Jr., Dorothy Denney and Tommy Fry (Katie); and many beloved nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Debbie.
Per Bob’s wishes, cremation rites will be accorded and a celebration of life was held.
