Faye L. Marciano 1926-2024

BOARDMAN — Faye L. Marciano, 97, died Sunday evening, May 19, 2024, in the comfort of her home.

Faye was born June 13, 1926, in Youngstown, a daughter of Dean and Clara Weeks Sahli. Being the second oldest of 10 children, Faye helped raise her younger siblings and was very close with them.

A lifelong area resident, Faye attended East High School. She worked as a clerk at the McCrory five and dime store in Youngstown until becoming a dedicated homemaker, wife and mother. Faye took great pride in caring for her home, husband and three daughters.

Since the age of 4, Faye’s youngest daughter was active with the Mahoning County Board of Developmental Disabilities. Faye spent countless hours volunteering with them, along with the Leonard Kirtz School and MASCO Workshop. Faye was a member of Boardman United Methodist Church and attended the Austintown Senior Center for many years. Not only was Faye a wonderful wife, mother and sister, but she was also a wonderful friend. She held dear the many friendships she made through her memberships and volunteer work.

In her leisure time, Faye could typically be found with a book in her hand. She was a voracious reader her entire life and read anything she could get her hands on. She instilled in her daughters and many others the importance of education, reading, and good grammar and vocabulary.

Faye is survived by her daughters, Leslie Marciano, Patricia Marciano and Faye Marciano, all of Boardman; sisters, Sandra Ambrose of Youngstown and Mae Lamboy of Puerto Rico; brother, William (Judy) Sahli of Bristolville; nephew, Michael Patrick of Hubbard; and her Shih Tzu, Bitsie, who gave her many years of companionship.

In addition to her parents and husband of 50 years, Dominic, who died March 28, 2003, she was preceded in death by siblings, Lillian Satteralla, Howard, Robert, Myron, Margaret and James Sahli.

Family and friends will be received 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 22, 2024, at the Davis-Becker Funeral Home, 8536 Market St., Boardman. A brief prayer will follow at 1 p.m. and then all guests are invited to a lunch reception at the Becker Family Center. Interment will be at a later date in Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

The family requests no flowers and suggests any memorial tributes take the form of contributions in Faye’s name to Animal Charity, 4140 Market St., Boardman, OH 44512; or Second Harvest Food Bank, 2805 Salt Springs Road, Youngstown, OH 44509, both of which Faye supported through the years.
